What is Galvanizing or “Galvanising”?
Galvanisation or galvanizing is a process of applying a protective zinc coating to steel or iron, this can be done using multiple methods such as Hot-Dip Galvanizing or Spin Galvanizing.
The most common method is Hot-Dip Galvanizing, in which the steel or iron is submerged in a bath/kettle of molten zinc. This method is used for but not limited to large structural work and also smaller items such as bulkheads.
What is Spin Galvanizing or Spin Galvanising?
Spin Galvanizing is mainly used for, but not limited to, small nuts and bolts.
The process of Spin Galvanizing is very similar to Hot-Dip Galvanizing. But the work is placed into a basket which is then submerged in a bath/kettle of molten zinc. It is then removed and spun at a high RPM for several seconds to remove any excess zinc from the work to prevent items sticking together, ensuing a high standard and smooth finish.
